The majority white management staff treat employees of color with such disdain and suspicion. They make it clear that their vision of the perfect teacher is young and white. The charter schools that are supported by tntp employ tactics such as isolating students who are non compliant, mostly African American and Hispanic children. There teachers employ tactics in the classroom that would filled them with indignation if uses on their own children. These idiots after I told them off and told them I wanted no part of their no excuses mentality still contact me about helping and working their organization. I found...What is King's expertise in pedagogy?
I found his professional bio at Uncommon Schools website. This is a pro charter organization, and King is a prominent member. He has an M.A. in Social Studies Teaching and an EdD in Ed Admin, both from Teachers College. His dad was the first black principal in Brooklyn and his Mom was a NYC guidance counselor; but King was orphaned at age 12, so it's questionable if he learned anything about teaching from his parents.
He taught Social Studies for only 3 YEARS (!!!), two of them in a Boston charter school, before he became a full time charter school founder and director
Looks like a bright guy; but what does he know about teaching and assessment and teacher evaluation? And what about teacher development? ANYBODY KNOW?

Pete Farruggio
Assoc Prof, Bilingual Education
Univ of Texas Pan AmericanPete Farruggionoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33431390.post-2265356499947530142013-11-18T11:53:48.334-05:002013-11-18T11:53:48.334-05:00So King should come to Mt Vernon and hear the same...So King should come to Mt Vernon and hear the same stuff from parents.

Pete Zuckerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16708676684946013529noreply@blogger.com
