I teach at Francis Lewis HS. We have eight trailer classes that are also falling apart. The roofs also leak. Our school was built to hold about 1800 and now is just under 5000. Our first period starts at 7:15 and the last class ends after 5:00. With all the Queens schools closing, and our good reputation, things will get worse way before they get better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33431390.post-71850464635848397772008-01-16T22:33:00.000-05:002008-01-16T22:33:00.000-05:00Overcrowding creates such miserable conditions for...Overcrowding creates such miserable conditions for the students. Last Friday during that horrible downpour, all of my students came into my classroom drenched and cold.

Trailers are not a solution to overcrowding. I don't see Bloomberg or Klein with offices in rundown trailers.

I don't see Randi's office in a rundown trailer either....where is the UFT on this issue and it is not only Richmond Hills HS that is suffering under this. That school is not an anomaly. It seems to be the norm of neglected, overcrowded schools.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
