Bloomberg's utter contempt for the people who do the work of the world can no longer be hidden, and it increasingly seems that even those who support his agenda are getting sick of him. The good thing is that his arrogance, coupled with the money he reflexively uses to control everything, will continue to alienate, and he will stay on the scene long past his sell-by date. Many people predicted that his dishonestly-acquired third term would result in his being the most hated man in the city, and there is some grim satisfaction in that.

However, no one should think for a moment that the privateers will not continue to grab everything in sight, as long as they have the opportunity. Locally, Moskowitz's unabated aggression is proof of that, and on a national level, there is now a huge, amply funded infrastructure that exists only to destroy/privatize the public schools.

Some of these people are just the fickle rich, looking for a fashionable cause that allows them to wear their couture apparel to the upcoming boldface society fundraising galas (Klein was very big on these), and will flitter away like moths to the next fad. But most of them have a deep ideological and financial interest in fattening themselves on the remains of "The BIg Enchilada."

No one should delude themselves into thinking that Walcott's reasonable tone and manner will do anything but disguise the social vandalism and privateering that is going on.Michael Fiorillonoreply@blogger.com
