???????? HAVE QUESTIONS FOR THE DOE ????????
IS THERE A NEED FOR MORE ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL SEATS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD?
DO ALL CHARTER SCHOOLS RUN THE SAME WAY?
WILL THE THREE OTHER PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN
I.S. 33 BE SQUEEZED FOR SPACE?
SHOULD K-12 STUDENTS BE IN THE SAME BUILDING?
WILL ALL SCHOOLS IN I.S. 33 BE
FUNDED AND RESOURCED FAIRLY?
Affected families, PLEASE read the carefully the SUNY application for this Success charter AND the EIS for your school. You should also do web searches for PS149, PS123 and other schools that have Success Academies co-located in their buildings (contact CECs in District 3 and 5). Educators may wish to contact the UFT reps at the affected schools as well. There is plenty of info out there to show that Success makes a BAD neighbor. They take more space than they are meant to and disenfranchise the regular public schools with which they are sited. The buyer should beware...Success seems to get whatever it wants - you must be prepared to dig down to the smallest details to keep them out.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest problem with the Success Academies is that they provide a superior education to the students lucky enough to get in. The educational establishment can't stand the success of Success.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Norm for posting this. Also thank you to the first poster for the advice.
