bravo!!! Bring back teaching that is focused on developing individuals who are proud of their strengths whatever those strengths are. Katz gets me thinking of the difference between a monoculture and a vibrant ecosystem. Our two documentaries could be helpful in understanding what the kind of teaching he espouses can look like: "AUGUST TO JUNE bringing Life to School" and "Good Morning Mission Hill the freedom to teach the freedom to learn" Both are playing on many public TV stations this month, and have websites.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, get the money out of the pockets of the publishing industry etc, and into long identified ways to bring people out of poverty. Could it be they haven't been implemented because they don't happen to make a fortune for big business?
