Well, off to Bikram hot yoga for the 2nd day in a row. When I get back I will post the stuff on Eva Moskowitz continuing attempt to take over an entire middle school building in my old district - we used to have 6 middle school buildings. Eva pretty much has one of them already and within a few years she will have this other one by growing her school so far into the space of the public school they won't survive in that building. And with the cooperation of the de Blasio/Farina/Mulgrew team I predict they will eventually move MS 50 out of the building and leave it to Eva, who chose that building expressly to push it out.

Public school teachers, in particular, are underpaid and overworked, and lack adequate resources. In order to ensure their failure, schools have been defunded by right-wing legislators. They often lack heat and the most basic resources. They represent the mirror image of the culture of cruelty and dispossession produced by the violence of neoliberalism. http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/35970-why-teachers-matter-in-dark-times

The neoliberal programs of the past generation have concentrated wealth and power in far fewer hands while undermining functioning democracy, but ythey have aroused opposition as well, most prominently in Latin America but also in the centers of global power by Chomsky http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/american-power-under-challenge-who-rules-the-world_b_9866204.html

Global War on Terror strategy has spread jihadi terror from a tiny corner of Afghanistan to much of the world. The invasion of Iraq made a substantial contribution to this process, much as intelligence agencies had predicted by Chomsky

Since the 2008 financial crisis, private equity firms have increasingly taken over public services like emergency care and firefighting, often with dire effects.

  1. Weingarten was a trojan horse for neo liberal policies in the uft. Remember her defense of charter schools at the DA.
