UFT/Unity Caucus Trumpian World: At Executive Board, Nancy Aromando asked, “what can be done when UFT members are lying about other UFT members, including employees?”

....and LeRoy was like, “I’m going to assume that you’re talking about some posts that are going around, and even though you didn’t say his name, I’m going to let Aqeel Williams speak”

Then he gave a speech about how he’s a caretaker for old people (his mom, mother-in-law, gramma) and he’s a good guy and he’s not ageist.

Then all the UFT staff clapped.

Your Lyin' eyes.

  1. Unity is once gain showing us exactly what kind of morally bankrupt organization that they are. Mr. Williams clearly was showing disrespect to RTC and displaying his ageism agenda. Yet, Unity covers for him like he is some kind of prince. Disgusting beyond words. That man should be out of his position right now. How can he show up in schools after this debacle? (Oh wait, 99.9% of teachers in District 9 have no idea that he did what he did) We gotta spread the word!

  2. Sorry I was late to the conversation! I was preparing for court to protect our healthcare that some of the unions including the Uft was trying to call back and privatize, like all those that support project 2025, for and Gus into Medicare advantage as the default plan.

And this time, I tried to convince the court they only had to pay $7.50 for any Medicare eligible.

So basically, the unity leadership led the fight against the aged

One of the Uft lawyers, Alan Klinger admitted in a video a year ago that intro 1099 does not impair collective bargaining, what it did do was reduce what the city would pay for an active worker if it was paying for Retirees. That video is here. https://youtu.be/RWyav-cvbrE?si=nWaUFvx3RmiTQrMV

  3. With all due respect, when are we going to talk about what is happening in the schools, in the classrooms? From retirement, I see a school system that has completely broken down, one that makes little sense for teachers or students.
Unmentioned, here, is that the Governor with Mulgrew at her side, signed into law, reforms that free teachers from being rated using exam results, and frees them from adherence to Danielson, both UfC demands. .
A law, which on the face of it, seems to restore professional and tenure rights to the classroom teacher.
Over the last 30 years, the business reformers, with school closures and imposed methodologies have degraded the teaching profession. With James Eterno, I used to have discussions about this new generation of teachers. He said that most of them would not know what to do with the professional and academic freedom that we had in the ‘90’s.
This present situation is a disservice to the students.
It seems to me that, more important than winning a UFT election is the formation of young teachers with the mission of saving public education. That means specifically to push for progressive humanistic reforms in curriculum, pedagogy, student assessment, and teacher evaluation.
The law, mentioned above, was motivated by a recognition that those systems have broken down.
Mulgrew has announced that discussions on these new systems will begin in the summer between the DOE and the UFT. What that means is that, with the inertia of the opposition, another bureaucratized system will be imposed on the teachers and the students.
There are no James Eternos or Jeff Kaufmans around now. Not too long ago, together we were able to take over chapter leaders meetings, get UFT officials to move on important issues, protect teachers in our schools and save the schools themselves from school closures. And that wasn’t done with laptop activism. I was there, along with you and James, I saw how good chapter leaders and organizers combined their love of teaching, their commitment to the kids, their connection to the members and a vision for a better world.

    In solidarity and brotherhood,

    Sam
