Only two schools: Boys and Girls High and Automotive High, are called
by NYSED "out of time" schools. The plan to require applying
each year was negotiated and approved by the UFT.
Another "victory" for the UFT.

If there are teachers in those schools who are apathetic to the situations that are occurring to their school, then it is time for them to dig their own grave. When you sit there and do nothing and watch the UFT bus run you over, don't complain.
It is time to take action and join the MORE caucus. It is time to take back your union. The union does not belong to Mulgrew et al; it belongs to us, the due-paying members. Show your anger!
Back in the late 90s I worked at a school that was going through "Redesign" and everyone at the school had to reapply for their positions. Those not selected chose 5 schools that they wanted to transfer to and most wound up doing better than those of us who stayed behind. Of course, that was BEFORE Randi Weingarten's disastrous 2005 contract.
Even though seniority transfers and "bumping" are no longer allowed, there needs to be some type of preferred placement for those teachers not selected. Reapplying every year? That's just ridiculous.
Force of Nature
It's not ridiculous if the intention is to force people out, in which case it's to be expected...
Since when has MORE ever defended teachers in troubled schools with abusive administrators? They are just silly hipsters from Brooklyn who work in wonderful schools.
What's the problem? Is Mulgrew embarrassed he's being shown up by a bunch of "silly hipsters?" When has Mulgrew/Unity stood up for abused teachers? Mulgrew/Unity supports Danielson as an effective evaluative tool and the tying of teachers to test scores. I come from blue collar working class roots. I work in a Bronx school. I support MORE. I encourage my colleagues to support MORE...and the last time I stepped foot in Brooklyn was at the Brooklyn Marriot listening to Randi Weingarten's bullshit.) Roseanne McCosh
