"Why isn't the UFT standing up for children by fighting the high class sizes," asked a parent calling in? (paraphrase)Good question. He didn't have an answer. He doesn't have an answer when teachers ask the same question.
Listen to the interview from June 20 -- towards the end.

Why isn't the UFT leadership fighting for class size? Simple - they are not in the classroom and don't understand the reality of teaching. They don't know that those in the classroom want to be successful in their teaching. Class size has a tremendous impact on teaching and learning. Why do some parents pay $30,000 a year to send their children to private schools with registers of 12-15? Class size has meaning.
