Teachers at Closing Bronx School Hold Protest....

...UFT will be there in ususal role of undermining militancy.

Oh, Randi, the enabler of closing schools, will be there to cry crocodile tears and commiserate. UFT officials will be there to tell teachers their "rights" - their rights to join the growing ATR pool from which they will have to race around the city applying for jobs with all the other ATRs and then be branded incompetent a year later if they are not hired and then with the help of the UFT be councelled on how to make a settlement with the DOE.

And sadly, the teachers at MS 399X, grasping at straws, will have no choice but to buy it.

Imagine if every school being closed held a protest on the same day all over the city? That will never happen with a UFT that plays the role of easing the closings for the DOE, not fighting them.

If one day there is a massively organized opposition to Unity, this is exactly what could happen. But that day is still far away.

  1. That's absolutely right, Norm! The problem is that most NYC teachers are oblivious to the ATR and rubber room problem. If it's not happening to them, they don't usually care, or they believe that ATR's have gotten what the deserve. It's sort of like when teachers of the "gifted" classes start to believe that they are gifted themselves.

As for the UFT, Unity has created such a veneer of smoke and mirrors that only the most seasoned can see what Randi is up to.

And wait until Carolyn Kennedy, Bloomberg/Klein's friend becomes a NY senator. All the Coke and Pepsi Democrat and Republican gentry will have their triangulation parties on the backs of the working man.

Maybe this whole school "reform" movement is just part of some weird Darwinian construction on God's part - where real educators keep getting killed off until a genuine class consciousness develops among the teachers.

As Popeye used to say, "The fault dear Brutus, is not in the stars but in ourselves.

  2. Some of us already "got it". It's the new fascism wrapped in a package being called "reform".

  3. We don't care about those who've already "got it". We only care about ourselves. Plus, i just got a new UFT painter's cap. I'm so proud!

  4. I bet that all these UFT OFFICIALS -- Pat Bonadona, Attia, etc, etc & Randy are going to the closing schools telling the teachers that everything will be all right. NO! The nightmare just started for these teachers.

  5. Th biggest joke is the "Rubber Room Report" blog. It is controlled by a paid paralegal under the UFT. This week they have an article written by a NYSUT lawyer, another agent of the UFT Reich. Try posting a negative comment about the union. It will never be posted. This is how insidious the UFT is. They have fake radicals controlling the dissenting media. The fix is in and we are doomed!
